Examples of inorganic and organic primary colours

Examples of inorganic and organic secondary colours

The top row is of secondary colours made from inorganic pigments, which are much denser and less vibrant than the organic pigments. The orange is acceptable, the greens are often more natural, but the violet is very subdued and though it is a very useful dark colour, it does not suffice when a vibrant violet is required.

The secondary colours made from organic primary colours are more vibrant, with more clarity. Trying out your colours in this way helps you to make the right colour choices for your paintings.
